Which of These Strikers Should Chelsea Buy
The blues still remain on cloud nine after being crowned champions of Europe this past weekend. It is also reported that Thomas Tuchel would be given a new contract and a budget to bolster the team so that they can defend their Champion’s League title next season and compete for more titles.
Many Chelsea fans would agree that the unit that needs strengthening the most is the attack. Regardless of their Champions League success this season, Chelsea had missed a lot of chances. It’s no surprise that their highest goal scorer in the just concluded Premier League season is Jorginho, a midfielder who got his goals from penalty kicks.
Though it might seem like the club’s latest signing Timo Werner might have forgotten his goal-scoring boots in Germany since he ended the season with a total of 10 goals as opposed to the 32 goals he had playing for Leipzig the season before, It would still be wise for Chelsea to invest in a striker that would rake in a steady 20 goals a season.
There are some names that have been rumored to be on Chelsea’s list such as Inter Milan Striker, Romelu Lukaku, Tottenham’s Harry Kane and the Dortmund wunderkind Erling Haaland.
Romelu Lukaka just finished the 2020/2021 Seria A season as the player of the tournament. He bagged 24 goals for Inter which helped them lift the trophy. There is no doubt that any team that keeps the Belgian striker next season would be guaranteed a good conversation rate from created chances. Lukaku was a former Chelsea player and he would fit seamlessly into the system should the Blues secure his signing.
Harry Kane has been one of the most consistent strikers in the world. However, titles have always eluded the English man. For a striker that bags more than 20 goals every season with his immense assist contribution, Harry Kane should be in a team that would win titles. Kane is a tested and trusted attacker in the English Premier League so he would not have an issue settling in immediately.
The Norwegian goal-machine, Erling Haaland, has a penchant to score goals. He scored an amazing 40 goals in 43 appearances for Borrusia Dortmund in the just concluded 2020/2021 season and that is something many coaches would love to have on their team.
