The body of a deceased person is transported in a coffin during a funeral, wake, or memorial service in a hearse, a sizable vehicle that was originally a horse-drawn carriage but eventually became a car with the invention of motor vehicles.
However, in this instance, the car was transporting more than just the deceased or the family; in many cases, it was also carrying booze, which caused others to wonder what was going on.
