Fellow South Africans must ensure they stock up on time and brace themselves for another hard lockdown expected to strike soon as the number of cases continues to rise.
THE signs of the fourth wave have been seen already in South Africa and experts have even proclaimed the date when the fourth wave could hit.
Recently the cases have risen a lot for the first time since the country entered into the level one lockdown and this could mean that South Africans will experience dark Christmas and possibly a dark new years eve once again.
This looks like we will have a family meeting in early December as Cyril Ramaphosa will be addressing the nation.
Health experts have shared their thoughts on this matter and stated that the situation is getting pretty bad especially in Gauteng.
“I see it as an early signal of the fourth wave,” the public health expert said.
“We also seeing those numbers jumping exponentially in the Northern Cape;and if numbers increase in the Northern Cape, they are likely to increase in the Free State.
“If numbers increase in Gauteng they are likely to increase in surrounding provinces because Gauteng is connected to a number of provinces.”
Looking at the active cases which were now above 3000, a larger number of people were infectious.
The Health Minister, Dr. Joe Phaahla has expressed his concern about the alarming rate of covid infections. The Minister says the festive season coupled with the movement of people is expected to trigger the “inevitable” fourth wave of Covid-19 infections.
He said that the low vaccination turnout is having a huge effect and this can lead to the strict lockdown. Phaahla said this can be avoided if people go and vaccinate in numbers.
“This makes it more urgent that more and more people come forward to be vaccinated because we want everybody in our country to be protected from this inevitable fourth wave.
“If we all vaccinate, we can have a safe and enjoyable festive season. We call on all South Africans to take the vaccine.”
At least 23 million people in South Africa have received at least one jab with at least 70 000 having done so on election day; constituting just under 40% of the country’s adult population.
Some liquor retailers have issued posters informing people to stock up so that they can avoid having no alcohol during the liquor ban.
