Tears: Newborn Found Dead at Motel 6 Leads to Father’s Arrest
This week, the father was taken into custody when the body of a newborn baby was found at a Houston motel.
A few days after the newborn kid was found at a neighborhood Motel 6, 33-year-old Jamal Edward Robertson was detained on Thursday and charged with “damage to a child-serious bodily injury in the 177th State District Court,” according to a news release from the Houston Police Department.
Around 3 p.m. local time on Tuesday, August 2, members of the Houston Fire Department and Houston Police Department responded to a call at a Motel 6 located at 15101 Katy Freeway.
Officers found a “unresponsive baby boy” when they arrived at the scene. The unconscious infant was taken by emergency personnel to the Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus, according to the press release. Police reported that the infant was declared deceased at the hospital.
Although the infant boy’s name was withheld by the police, they did note that he was just one month old.
Police initiated an investigation into the incident after the baby died, and they found injuries on the child’s body. According to the news statement, “Robertson, the child’s father, was seized and subsequently charged in the event.”
The Houston Police Department reports that the baby’s cause of death is still being looked into.
