Watch: Noxolo Grootboom Receives Doctorate Qualifications

Noxolo Grootboom a former isixhosa newsreader on SABC was honored with Doctorate qualifications by Nelson Mandela University.

Noxolo Grootboom (61) received Doctor of Philosophy qualifications for her job as a journalist, news, publishing, and implementation of South African languages. This legendary newsreader stopped reading news in March 2021, she received Doctor Of Letters qualifications at an event that was hosted online by Rhodes University.

Deidre Uren who’s one of the officials at SABC has congratulated Noxolo mentioning that the role she played is record-breaking. She has been an inspiration to employees and for lifting up journalism to the top level.

‘This is one of her well-done job that we are celebrating, presenting news in the Isixhosa language on SABC 1. In the 37 years that she has worked for SABC, Grootboom is well known for her dedication to her work and also for developing the Isixhosa language to be acceptable in news reading.
